Anika Wright is Picnic Bay's 2010/2011 Jupiter's surf girl entrant. Currently 19, Anika commenced her surf lifesaving career as a Nipper with Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park club on the Gold Coast.

Since joining Picnic Bay, besides being a keen patrolling member and dedicated fund raiser, Anika has excelled in the surf sports and surf rescue arenas. She has competed in every aspect of lifesaving including surf, champion lifesaver, first aid and pool rescue. She has represented Queensland and Australia in surf and pool rescue and is a State and Australian medallist in surf and champion lifesaver events

Lifesaving runs in the blood. Anika is a fourth generation lifesaver. Her Great Grandmother was a surfer at Southport in the early 1900's where her brother was one of the first Southport SLSC members holding Qualifiying Certficate No. 89 in 1929. Anika's Grandfather was a member in the 1950's of Kirra SLSC, her father was originally a member of Bundaberg, then Kirra, Burleigh Heads, Emu Park and now Picnic Bay with the rest of the family.

Anika is a studying a full time Nursing Science degree and works part-time as a Lifeguard and Learn to Swim Instructor in Townsville. As well as lifesaving, her other interest is swimming where she is a State medallist in the pool and Australian medallist in Open Water events.

Anika says "having the opportunity to participate in the Jupiters Summer Surf Girl event gives her the opportunity to promote and support the organization which has been her life and provides such an important service within communities all over the State and Country".
